don't know

[edit]

don't know about the Asturian.

It gets a mention in the last paragraph here [1] and seems to be the subject of: Clark, Geoffrey A. 1983. The Asturian of Cantabria: Early Holocene Hunter-Gatherers in Northern Spain. Tucson: University of Arizona Press. Whether it's considered sufficiently distinct from the Azilian though, I can't find out. adamsan 19:43, 8 Nov 2004 (UTC)

10000 BC

[edit]

10000 BC is not 10000 years ago. 10000 BC is 12000 years ago, or 10000 years ago is 8000 BC. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.21.188.225 (talk) 07:03, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ignorant! [BP] is NOT "ago". BTW, we menawhile have very fine calebrated dates BC. It is extreme substandard!2A02:8108:9640:1A68:5D4F:2DED:1B2:160F (talk) 15:33, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Venus of Brassempouy?

[edit]

Venus of Brassempouy is from 29,000 BC and is from the Augnacian and Gravettian Negroid "Cro Magnon" Cultures. If your going to use the picture you should have those cultures in the SEE ALSO section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.112.243.125 (talk) 04:34, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Map

[edit]

I would like to add the Polish map on Commons, but need more certainty that it is correct. And a date is needed - this would be pretty late if correct at all, I think. Anyone? Johnbod (talk) 14:17, 27 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If I understand correctly, you reverted the addition of this map with the edit summary "oh dear no" and then came here asking if the map is "correct"? My additions were informed by de:Federmesser-Gruppen. It appears that Federmesser culture and Azilian have been used as synonyms by some authors but not by others. That is, the term "Azilian" has a narrow and a wider sense. See also this, "the character of an Azilian assemblage has never been strictly defined". In other words, there is no single objective way of deciding whether the map is "correct". The situation is complex, and it isn't entirely clear how "oh dear no" is in any way a helpful or appropriate contribution to resolving this. --dab (𒁳) 11:37, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Well, there was more to the reversion than that. This doesn't seem to support the map though. As the article notes at more than one point, the geographical area of the term has been contracting over many years. Johnbod (talk) 14:02, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Photo of cave entrance with a road

[edit]

I think the photo top right is wrong, the cave isn't entered on a two lane highway, as you can see if you google "azilian culture visit the place - Google Search". If it is a "joke" it is tasteless. If it is another cave now used for through-traffic but with some remnants, then it need explanation. Look at this picture: https://www.gites-de-france.com/en/grotte-mas-azil --d-axel (talk) 12:45, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
